THE STORY: Helford River Boats was purchased by a successful City businessperson in early 2022 with a view to rejuvenating a vital service to the local Cornish community. The new owner looked to Revive Marketing & DJM to totally reinvent HRB from every aspect of the business.

It was down to us to present a business plan to introduce vital services to the business as it progresses through its growth. Unlike so many organisations, we agreed to build the new website first as this would be a conduit for everything HRB would undertake. Following our brief project management meeting, we started with a new logo design and a corporate colour palette.

As business consultants we looked at the new business and quickly realised that there was a ceiling to the annual income due to the limitations of the business profile and the actual growth, in terms of facilities and how many people can be accommodated on an annual basis. With this mind, we suggested that the new website should be seen to support the local community via lavish photographic galleries from over twenty-six of Cornwall’s beauty spots. The idea is that this could be used to encourage sponsors and advertisers from the twenty-six locations to place their adverts within the new HRB website.

The website would offer two levels of adverts from the smaller A5 sized adds to the single full-page adverts. The prices would range from £500 to £4,500.00 plus VAT. A5 adverts would be placed under their location within the gallery pages as well as a main sponsors page. You can see examples of the two styles of adverts here:

To further encourage sponsors to the new HRB website, we embarked on a strong social media campaign that would attract more hits to the HRB site than the sponsors were receiving to their own sites.

Most important was to create a strong BRAND image to both local businesses and the public. We did this by creating branded and themed signs, brochures, flyers, marine equipment, clothing. merchandise and even the beach offices. Every item reflected the corporate colours, logos and straplines.

Originally, we designed a main logo with an orange life ring replacing the ‘O’ in the wording, Helford River Boats. Organic growth, and recognition has resulted in the orange ‘O‘ becoming the new instantly recognised HRB BRAND.

Indeed, due to the swift success of the initial HRB website and the desire to attract a more commercial style of sponsor, the decision was taken to have us, at Revive/DJM, design a second, more commercial website that promotes the HRB moorings and brokerage services. The existing website, under Helford River Boats, had a new front end built to link to the new associated websites.
